Privacy Statement & Data Protection Policies

The Data Protection Act 1998 implements the EU Data Protection Directive (No. 95/46) in the United Kingdom.  The Data Protection Directive has an impact throughout the states of the European Economic Area.

The 1998 Act provides for regulation of the processing of information relating to personal data (data about living people through which they may be individually identified).  It regulates the processing of information which, as far as Volt Europe is concerned, will relate mainly to Volt's own staff, applicants for temporary and permanent engagements, clients who are individuals or partnerships (not limited companies) and details of potential client individuals or candidates who are held on Volt's marketing database.

The Act's requirements extend to relevant personal data obtained, recorded or held by Volt and the organisation, retrieval, use, disclosure or destruction of relevant data.

Volt has taken and continues to take the requisite steps needed within its business organisation to comply with the data protection principles contained in the Data Protection Act 1998 and all other applicable legislation.  Volt monitors its compliance on a continual basis as a matter of good business practice.  Additionally, Volt Europe's parent company, Volt information Sciences Inc., complies with the privacy requirements of the Safe Harbor program promulgated by the U.S. Department of Commerce in consultation with the European Commission and approved by the EU in July 2000. (See http://www.volt.com/common/SafeHarbor.cfm.)
